Invited to a fall wedding but you’re not sure what you should wear? We've got you covered with a few fashion dos and don’ts.

The most important thing to remember when shopping for a wedding is you want to look fashionable and chic, but you don't want to distract or draw attention away from the bride. A couple of the ground rules for dressing for a wedding:

- Don't ever, ever wear white to a wedding.
- Dress appropriately for any religious affiliations.
- Wearing black is not off-limits.
- It's better to be overdressed than underdressed.

Selecting something to wear to a fall wedding can be tough because the weather can be unpredictable, just remember to dress in layers or bring a shawl or a cardigan.

Fall is the perfect time for you to break out your favorite little black dress. Since fall tones tend to be dark and muted, you can add a pop of color with a bold statement piece or lipstick. Try out some fun fall florals or autumn colors that are classic for the season.

If the wedding is during the day, pick a dress you could wear with or without tights and check the weather a week prior to determine if you need them. If the wedding is in the evening consider tights or a floor-length dress. Be sure to pack a sweater in your bag in case the temperature drops at night.

If you decide to wear open-toed shoes, it's always a good idea to schedule a pedicure, having chipped nails at a wedding is a definite no-no. Take a look at the invitation for hints of the couple's wedding colors so you don't end up matching a member of the bridal party.
